In 2003 David Schramm produced the second of his ongoing series of guitar-making courses entitled The Online Apprentice (http://onlineapprentice.com). The goal was to build an exact replica of a 1976 Miguel Rodriguez, Jr. This is the very guitar
that David built for that program . Although the plans used in the course were drawn by luthier Tom Blackshear, the exact dimensions were taken from the

Miguel Rodriguez Model

Tell us about the Rodriguez model of yours that is in our inventory. Why did you build it?
SCHRAMM  I built this for my online guitar making course called The Online Apprentice. This went on for several years so the guitar took that long to build. The course showed every single step in the process of how to build a copy of a Rodriguez. I have not edited the CD ROM of that course yet, but I did a Hauser class too and have sold 1,000 copies of that CD ROM all over the world in Ireland, Spain, China, Vietnam, Germany, South America, India, Australia, South Africa, etc.

Is there a guitar in particular that you copied and took measurements from?
SCHRAMM Yes, I know someone who owns one of Bill Kanengiser's old Rodriguezes. It is one of the great ones he used to shoot one of his videos but I'm not sure which. I took very exacting measurements because I intended this guitar to be an exact replica. That was the goal.

I am very familiar with Rodriguezes. I've played a lot of them over the years and I owned a very good one at one point and I have to say Dave, this guitar is one of the very best "Rodriguez" type guitars I have ever played, regardless of who built it. It is really something!
SCHRAMM  Thanks. It turned out well.

Will you be making more Rodriguez designed guitars?
SCHRAMM  Yes, Right now I'm making another Rodriguez model on the side along with my regular orders. I still like making fan braced guitars as well as lattice braced.
